Shishya
Devika Ajay began learning Bharatanatyam at the age of Nine. Her interest in Bharatanatyam was kindled by Guru Smt. Rajita Pradeep, a disciple of Guru Rajalakshmi Surendran and Guru V. P. Dhananjayan. During these initial years, she developed a primary understanding of the dance form which reinforced her desire to gain more competence as a classical dancer.
At the age of 12, Devika was fortunate to begin training under her present Guru Smt. Anjana Ketty. Smt. Anjana Ketty has lovingly and firmly held Devika’s hand as she journeyed through the different aspects of knowledge and skills development, inculcating in her a deep love and appreciation for Bharatanatyam. Not only has Devika grown as a dancer, but thanks to the guidance received, she imbibed values of discipline and dedication as well as a deeper connection with her roots.
Devika has performed in several cultural events across Dubai including performances in school, Bhawa Composers Day Programme 2016, Pradarshan2018 and the Unity Concert 2019, among others. She has successfully completed the Level 4 exam conducted by the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), UK.
Devika is currently pursuing her final year IB Programme at Repton School, Dubai. She is also deeply interested in Art and Calligraphy and plans to study Architecture at University.
